European Heritage Days 2016 September 23 – October 2
From 23 September to 2 October will be held Days of European Heritage 2016. Traditionally, Belgrade in September is committed to promoting the richness and diversity of heritage, but also an opportunity to see positive examples – how to sustainably use the variety of ways to promote and popularize, especially among young people, where it remains to keep it for the next generation. Cultural and tourist events European Heritage Days since 2002, traditionally organized every year in September in Belgrade, as part of a major European event of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, which promotes heritage as a common heritage of European naroda. Following the decision of the Ministry of Culture as a national coordinator of the program which will be implemented in the cities and municipalities in Serbia, this year has accepted the recommendations of the Council of Europe, and programs will be marked by the European common theme: “Cultural Heritage and the community – to live with the legacy.” The theme is based on the principles of the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (Faro Convention, 2005), which emphasizes the important role played by the community in the management of their heritage and the environment, and the importance of cultural heritage as a resource for sustainable development and quality of life.
